Major Damage misses Winston County

Weather sirens blasted as rough weather came through our area on Saturday afternoon. Possible tornadoes were indicated in the Noxapater and Center Ridge areas of the county but the area was spared any major damage or loss of life. Heavy rains and high winds hit the area.

However Choctaw, Yazoo and Holmes County were hit by storm activity resulting in the loss of life. News reports indicate at least five people were killed in Choctaw County including two children. WCBI News is reporting that as many as eleven people were killed statewide and many were injured. It is reported that the Red Cross has set up a command post in French Camp as much of the damage was in the French Camp/Weir area. compiled by WWN.
