By all accounts, The Red Hills Festival this weekend was a success with larger crowds, more activities and better weather than in recent years past. Activities actually kicked off on Friday Night with a street performance by the local band Deja Vu and a carnival midway. Saturday brought warm but dry weather and a group of vendors selling everything from crawfish to lawn ornaments, jewelry and clothing. Several civic groups also set up booths to provide information and/or services.
The Louisville Homecoming provided a means for folks who no longer live in the area and for various high school classes to get together. The Market Street Cafe served as a base for the Homecoming.
Various events and entertainers kept the Festival lively throughout the day. The Red Hills Car Show drew a large # of participants as well as the 5K run and Fun Run. The "Dunk a Methodist Preacher" booth raised money for the CornerStone clinic here in Louisville. Entertainers provided music ranging from Gospel to Blues to Rock n Roll. Several political leaders spoke, including State Representative Dannie Reed, who announced his candidacy for Secretary of Agriculture. More photos of the event are now available on our photos page & video coverage of the event is pending.
