MDES reports unemployed of 1560 out of a work force of of 7550 in Winston County. There were 117 new unemployment claims in the County for the month of May, 2010.

Unemployment Rate exceeds 20% again
Winston County's unemployment rate jumped back up - over 20% in May. April had seen a slight decline to a rate of 19.3%. MDES indicates that Winston County Unemployment for May 2010 was at 20.6%. This is the third worst rate in the state as only Noxubee and Holmes Counties have higher levels of unemployed.
