Controlled Burn gets Out of Control

Local Fire Departments responded to a controlled burn that got a bit out of hand yesterday (Tuesday 8-24) on Brooksville Road just a few miles outside the city limits of Louisville. A change in weather conditions and the effects of intense heat centered in a ravine caused the fire to spread and burn at a higher rate than expected. Fortunately, no structures were involved in the blaze and a cooperative effort by the Louisville Fire Department, East Winston, Beth Eden and Nanih Waiya Volunteer Departments along with Forestry Personnel were able to contain the fire. The following photos were taken on Wednesday.
