The Winston County Partners for Community Living (WCPCL) met Thursday evening at Louisville City Hall to discuss the mission, purpose and organization of the non-profit group. Mayor Will Hill and Larry Veazey provided information to interested parties about the need for such an organization in our communities. Hill stated that as Mayor, he has seen firsthand the need for a place to direct people requiring assistance that works across social and racial lines and also to eliminate the duplication of services. He also stated that as a community based non-profit organization, WCPCL would be more likely to receive grants from the state and federal governments.
A Mission Statement and a preliminary set of By-Laws were presented to those present. The group hopes to establish a Board of Trustees composed of members from Civic, Religious, Educational, Business and Governmental organizations.
Anyone interested in participating either as an individual, or through their church or civic organization is encouraged to attend the next scheduled meeting on October 28 at the Louisville City Hall. If you would like additional information, contact the Mayor's Office.
