Winston Distinguished Young Woman Program - March 5

Winston County's Distinguished Young Woman Scholarship Program (formerly known as Junior Miss) is scheduled for Saturday,March 5 at 6:30 pm at the Louisville High School Auditorium. Nineteen young women from across the county will be participating. To see all of the local contestants: click here. Contestants are judged upon their scholastic achievement, physical fitness, talent, judge's interview and self-expression.

The Winston County winner will join 34 other winners as they advance to the state competition in Meridian. Five judges will select one contestant to advance to the annual National Finals competition.

Contestants from all 50 states will travel to Mobile, Alabama, for the 54th Annual Distinguished Young Women National Finals, June 23-25, 2011. They will spend two weeks getting to know outstanding girls from across the country, experiencing the fun and beauty of the area, enjoying the hospitality of local and national sponsors, and preparing for the National Finals competition. All State winners will compete for a share of at least $150,000 in cash scholarships.

Admission to the program is $10 and children six years of age and under are admitted free.
