Issues Addressed at Tuesday Night's Civil Defense Meeting

A Civil Defense meeting was held on Tuesday night (May 24). Discussion centered around the recent tornado damage that occurred in the county and the response from emergency personnel and citizens. While the consensus that all emergency personnel did a good job during the crisis, there was need for more organization in the future. Members agreed to return to their member organizations, particularly the area volunteer fire departments and begin the process of forming committees to serve various required functions. As an example, a commitee would be formed with the responsibility of maintaining and servicing the generator that serves the communication repeater in Louisville.
Patrick Bane was approved as a new member, a motion to move a Kubota 4-wheeler & trailer currently at the Louisville Fire Department to the old solid waste facility in Beat 4 which serves as a storage facility for other civil defense equipment and a motion was also made to attempt to purchase a used Surburban from the Forestry Commission for use by local Emergency Management personnel. It was also decided to discuss an upgrade to the GR2 Analyst software that is used to track storm activity in the area.
Civil Defense meetings are scheduled for every 4th Tuesday of the month.
