WOW - Big Weekend Coming Up in Winston County - Red Hills Festival & More

This upcoming weekend may be the biggest of the year for Winston County and the City of Louisville highlighted by the 31st Annual Red Hills Festival. The Festival will kick off Friday night with live entertainment with the band "Backdraft" from Edinburg. In addition the Festival will have carnival rides and games throughout the weekend. The festival on Saturday will host a large number of vendors with food,crafts,jewelry and accessories, and other creative items. This being an election year, the visitor can expect a large number of political speakers along with musical entertainment throughout the day. Lieutenant Governor Phil Bryant is tentatively scheduled to speak.There are lots of other events scheduled on Memorial Day weekend as well:
The 2nd annual Junior Auxiliary 5K run/Walk & 1 mile fun Run are scheduled at 8 & 9 am on Saturday (May 28) to kick off the activities for the day ** To register contact Shelley Thomas at sthomas@eccc.edu.
The 2nd annual Homecoming will also kick off this weekend beginning Friday night as well. Anyone with a connection to Winston County is asked to return for a weekend of fun and fellowship. Homecoming tents will be stationed in front of Citizens Bank on the day of the festival.Area churches are encouraged to host a Homecoming Sunday on May 29th. First Methodist will also be having the second annual Antique Sale in conjunction with the Red Hills Festival and a county wide bake sale is being sponsored by the citizens of Winston County to help benefit the tornado victims of Winston County. This will be held in the Christian Life Center of First Methodist Church on Saturday, May 28,2011, during the Red Hills Festival.
And last but not least, the Red Hills Festival Car Show will return to the First Baptist Church parking lot. Registration runs from 8 am til 10 am. There is a $20 entry fee and all entrants will receive a t-shirt and a chance at some great door prizes. Any wheeled vehicle is eligible and the classes will be adjusted accordingly.
