Local NonProfits Lose Tax-Exempt Status

Congress passed the Pension Protection Act in 2006, requiring most tax-exempt organizations to file an annual information return or notice with the IRS. Section 6033(j) of the Internal Revenue Code automatically revokes the exemption of any organization that fails to satisfy its filing requirement for three consecutive years.The Internal Revenue Service yesterday released a listing of approximately 275,000 organizations that under the law have automatically lost their tax-exempt status because they have not filed as legally required for the past three years. About 2300 of those organizations are in the state of Mississippi and our research indicates that 10 of these list either Louisville or Noxapater as their location. The IRS indicates that many of these organizations may no longer exist. These are the non-profits listed from Winston County that have had their non-profit status revoked:
