Noxapater Man Killed in One Car Accident Over the Weekend

A Noxapater man was killed in a one car accident on Saturday evening on Hwy 490 east of Noxapater. According to Scott Gregory, Winston County Coroner, James Anthony Yates, age 42 was killed around 7:15 pm when Mr Yates lost control of his late model SUV. Witnesses indicated that the vehicle crossed into the west bound lane of Hwy 490 near the Union Ridge Road intersection and hit a driveway connection. The vehicle became airborne and rolled several times. Mr Yates was partially ejected and was pronounced dead of blunt force head trauma at the scene. Gregory indicated that the victim was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Further investigation continues.
