The Primary Runoff is set for tomorrow, Tuesday – August 23. Polls are open from 7 am til 7 pm and voters should remember that they must vote in the same party runoff that they voted in back on August 2nd. In other words, if you voted in the Republican primary, you cannot vote in the Democratic runoff. As in the primary, absentee ballots must be in the Circuit Clerk's Office no later than 5 pm today- (not postmarked but actually in the physical possession of the Clerk).
Due to the large number of candidates in the primary, several local races necessitated a runoff. These included Chancery Clerk, Tax Assessor, Sheriff, Supervisors in Districts 1, 3, 4 and West Post Constable. All these runoffs occur on the Democratic ticket. Statewide, there is a runoff between Johnny Dupree & Bill Luckett for the Democratic nomination for Governor while Lynn Fitch and Lee Yancey vie for the Republican nomination as State Treasurer.
Viewers can review the candidates and offices on the ballot on our elections page. WWN will be posting results as soon as they come in on Tuesday evening. We will also post immediate reports through Twitter and Facebook. Follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/#!/WinstonWebNews or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/winstonwebnews
