What's Happenin in Winston County!!

This weekend brings everything from hoot owls to golf and Scottish kilts to some great buys on books (for a good cause). The Friends of the Library Book sale has been going on since Thursday and should wrap up at noon on Saturday. WWN was by the Winston County Library earlier and there was a huge selection of books of all kinds at fantastic prices. The sale runs through 5:30 on friday and from 8:30 til noon on Saturday **** The Lions Annual Golf Tournament - a 2 man/woman scramble is set for Saturday. Just come by the Louisville Country Club and register to play from 8:15 to 8:45. The Lions alway put on a great event. Registration is $45 and includes lunch (fire grilled burgers & dogs), door prizes and trophies for 1st & 2nd place. There's a closest to the hole contest & a hole-in-one could win a new ford vehicle from Crowson Auto World.  **** And Saturday night, the Friends of the Refuge will hold an Owl Prowl at 7:00 p.m. Visit the Refuge after hours to see and hear some of the nocturnal wildlife. Reservations are required as space is limited. Call 662-323-5548. Meet at the visitor center.   **** The McMillin Reunion, a tradition here in Winston Couty for 61 years will be held on Saturday & Sunday at Lake Tiak O'Khata. Lots of local folks including myself have family ties to the McMillin name and all are welcome. I have fond memories of the reunions in the 60's and 70's often held at Camp Palila in the lodge...  **** The County-wide Tailgate party is coming up on Tuesday and all area footbal teams start action on August 19th. This year you can follow all our area teams on the Friday Nite Tweet Twitter Network hosted by Winston Web News. We'll have more details next week. Hope ya'll have a great weekend!!! Be careful & stay cool.
