Big Weekend Coming Up for Winston County!!

It's Fall and football dominates the weekends around this part of the country but there's something for everyone to do this weekend. Starting with football, Winston Academy heads out of town to take on Wayne and Nanih Waiya heads to Clarksdale. Noxapater plays host to Ethel and it's homecoming at Louisville. The festivities kick off with a homecoming parade at 5:15. The parade starts in the parking area of Dirt Cheap on North Church and heads down Ball Drive and Ivy Avenue in front of the high school. Folks are invited to bring their chairs and blankets and cheer on the parade. Included are floats from each high school class, the homecoming court, Fall sport athletes, school clubs and of course, the LHS Marching Band. Later at 7:30, the Cats take on Aberdeen.
To round out the football news, Ole Miss hosts Georgia at 11:20 on Saturday. the game is on the SEC Network and both Houston Nutt and Mark Richt of Georgia need to win this one to get out of the hot seat with their fans, Later, at 6:00 pm, the Bulldogs of MSU will host La. Tech at 6:00 pm at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville. This game will be on ESPNU.
But if that's just too much football for one person, head down to Noxapater for the annual Cotton Gin Festival. The all day event features a car show, vendors and entertainment throughout the day. Also the Winston County Self Help will be sponsoring a small business workshop on Saturday afternoon from 3-5 pm at the Extension Office on Vance Street.
Whatever you decide to do over the weekend, get out and enjoy the weather as highs should only reach the lower 80's and lows into the lower 60's. Have a great weekend.
