A Senior Enrichment Center may be a reality for Winston County. On Tuesday in Louisville's Board of Alderman meeting, city officials discussed the possibility of a facility that includes a Senior Center, banquet hall and stage with representatives of Golden Triangle Planning and Development District. GTPDD already has involvement in similar operations in Starkville and West Point. The city looks to enter into negotiations with GTPDD for the center to possibly be located at the old National Guard Armory on Pontotoc Street in Louisville. The property would need significant repair and remodel work. Part of the armory structure is currently used by the local Boy Scout Troop and this would likely be able to continue. The adjoining shop building and quonset structure house city functions and would not be included in any negotiations. Details are limited at this time but there are indications that this project could advance very quickly. As more information becomes available, we will keep you updated.
