ECCC Hosts Public Forum on January 16th for Community Input
An open letter from ECCC President Billy Stewart, Ph.D.
East Mississippi Community College (ECCC) has been serving the educational needs of our communities since 1928. With an open-door policy and affordable tuition, our College has affected the lives of countless individuals who would otherwise not have had the opportunity to achieve their educational goals. However, while we celebrate our storied past, we must also plan for a bright future.
With that in mind, the College has embarked on a strategic planning process titled 2020 Vision. “20/20 vision” is a term used to express the sharpness or clarity of vision at a distance. As such, we want our 2020 vision strategic pan to provide a clear picture as to where we are headed and what we want to achieve by the year 2020. So far, this process has included a review of the college’s mission and core values in order to solidify institutional commitments necessary to achieve our vision.
This is where we need your assistance. It is the intent of the College to ensure that broad and diverse input is collected as we develop our strategic plan. Therefore, ECCC will participate in Public Forums throughout our five-county service area to solicit feedback from members of our community on the future of our College. As the community’s college we want to know how members of the community see the College now and in the future. We need to know your thoughts and ideas related to the question, “ What should the College look like in the year 2020?”
Attached to this e-mail you will find an announcement and schedule regarding the Public Forums to be held throughout the month of January in the College’s five-county service area. Please make plans to attend one of these Public Forums to provide your thoughts and ideas regarding principles and strategies that will guide the College’s long-term plan to achieve student success and promote community development.
If you are unable to attend one of the Public Forums, you may provide input online though the College’s website. Please visit www.eccc.edu and find “ Share Your Thoughts” to participate in an online opportunity for involvement in the strategic planning process as we develop 2020 Vision for ECCC. We hope you will take the time to share your thoughts and ideas with us through participation in the Public Forums or online as we collectively develop a vision for the future of ECCC.
Thank you for your time and consideration and we look forward to seeing you at one of the Public Forums.
The public forum for Winston County will be held on January 16 at Lake Tiak O'Khata from 11 am til 1 pm. Refreshments will be provided.
