A Louisville woman was attacked by a dog on Richardson Road early Sunday morning. A neighbor's dog attacked the woman in her backyard. The mixed breed bulldog caused significant damage to Pat Dempsey's arms, legs and feet, sending her to Louisville Medical Center. Ms. Dempsey's husband was able to beat back the dog prior to contacting Louisville Police and Louisville Animal Control.
Dempsey was treated for bites and gashes and released. Animal Control Officer Jody Fulton destroyed the animal and sent its body to the Ms. Department of Health for disease testing on Monday. A second dog joined in the attack at some point and was later destroyed by its owner.
Fulton warned individuals to make Animal Control aware of any dangerous animals in their neighborhood by calling 662-773-4320. Animal Control can evaluate the situation and the adequacy of the animal's current containment.
