Local Pilot Club Members Attend District Convention

 Members of the Pilot Club of Louisville joined more than 100 Pilot members from Mississippi at the MS District, Pilot International 24th Annual Convention held at the Clarion Inn and Summit Convention  Center in Tupelo on April 13-14,  2012.  Governor Beth Davis, Pilot Club of Iuka,  presided during the weekend.  Those attending from the Pilot Club of Louisville were:   Mary Blanset, Connie Estes, Babs Fulton, Paula Fulton, Gloria Joiner, Wanda Ward, DeLaine Woodruff, & Tara Woodward.
Theme for the weekend was “Be Inspired…Continue to Give!”  Attendees took part in informative workshops, officer training sessions, election of district officers, and conducting district business.  Mary Jane Morgan, Pilot International Treasurer, from Alpine, Texas attended as the Executive Committee Representative for the MS District.  A special fundraiser for the Pilot International Foundation was held on Friday night.  The Pilot Clubs of Grenada and Starkville served as hostesses for the successful weekend of training, entertainment, inspiration, and fellowship.
The 2011 - 2012  District officers are:  Governor Janie Cirlot-New, Starkville; Governor Elect Janis McCoy, Tupelo; Lt. Governor Janice Yielding, Mantachie; Treasurer Myrna Gray,  Fulton; and Secretary Peggy Norman, Starkville.   They will serve from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013.
Founded in 1921, Pilot International is a human service organization of volunteers working together to improve the quality of life in communities throughout the world.  The organization’s service focus is helping persons with brain-related disorders and disabilities through education, volunteerism, and financial support.  The Pilot International Foundation awards thousands of dollars annually in grants and scholarships to further education, research, and programs that benefit those affected by neurological diseases and injuries to the brain.

Club won the coveted Mary Jane Green Pilot Club of the Year Award.
