Saturday is the Day to Stamp out Hunger!

Postal Workers with collection
from a previous year's Drive
You can help your mail carrier fight hunger in our area on Saturday, May 12. Winston County Postal employees are participating in the NALC (National Association of Letter Carriers) Stamp Out Hunger National Food Drive with a goal of 3000 pounds of non-perishable food collected. Folks are asked to leave canned and non-perishable items at their mailbox on Saturday. Carriers will pick up the items as they make their usual round of mail deliveries. If you prefer or it is more convenient, drop off boxes are located in the Louisville and Noxapater Post Offices as well.

The Cities of Louisville, Noxapater and Winston County Issue Proclamations
in Support of Stamp Out Hunger
To show community support, Mayors Tommy Gardner of Noxapater and Will Hill of Louisville along with Chancery Clerk Julie Cunningham representing Winston County issued proclamations showing support for the cause. According to http://www.helpstampouthunger.com/ as many as one in six Americans face hunger on a regular basis. This includes one in five children under the age of eighteen and as many as four million senior citizens. With summer approaching and the suspension of some school lunch/breakfast programs, millions of students/parents now must find alternative sources of nutrition. The Stamp Out Hunger campaign is in its 20th year and food contributions are used locally. Rural and city carriers are participating in the drive.
