MS Forestry Comm Urges Caution When Using Fireworks

Press Release - Jackson, MS
Until the hot, dry conditions improve we ask that everyone use caution when using fireworks and to use them responsibility. In these drought conditions, dry grass will ignite readily. The potential is there with the current conditions for wildfires to spread rapidly and consume hundreds of acres across the state.
–Due to the current drought conditions and the predicted weather pattern for the next week, the fire danger rating for the state will be extremely high. The state has experienced little to no rainfall and unseasonably high temperatures over the last several weeks, with some areas possibly breaking records over the next few days. These conditions, combined with the high winds will create increased risk for devastating wildland fires.
