See Ya in the Funny Pages at Winston Co. Library

September brings the funny pages to the Winston County Library as a one of a kind exhibit of cartoon art is hosted for a month-long engagement. The exhibit called "One Fine Sunday in the Funny Pages" features the original art of over 100 different syndicated comic strips and panels stops in Louisville as part of a ten state cross country trip where it will be hosted in libraries, museums, universities, and galleries. Meridian native, John Read, a cartoonist himself is the curator of the exhibit.

Aside from the extraordinary and unprecedented participation of so many cartoonists, what makes the show so unique is the fact that each and every comic featured was published in newspapers across the country on the same Sunday. This celebration of the wild variety of cartoon entertainment available in newspapers everyday of the week provides a snapshot bringing together in one place, examples of virtually every American strip and panel currently published from the longest running to those just launched. Patrons will see the art of their favorite features, be introduced to comics they have never read and re-introduced to characters they may not have seen in awhile, all while enjoying the wide diversity of styles, themes and genres of "the funny pages."

The exhibit will be open to the public during normal library hours through the month of September.
