PSC Commissioner to Hold Rural Community Meeting in Noxapater

Press Release: Nettleton, MS (09/04/2012) – Brandon Presley, Northern District Public Service Commissioner (D-Nettleton) continues his 2012 community meetings across the Northern District to hear directly from ratepayers.  The “Rural Community Meeting” in Noxapater will be held on Thursday night, September 27, 2012, at J W Young Molly Estes Park from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  This meeting is free, and the public is invited to attend.

“I want to give people in the rural communities an opportunity to speak up and share their concerns with me personally about high utility rates and service, and how that affects their lives and businesses,” Presley said. “I also want to provide a forum where I can speak directly to the public about the important issues facing the PSC today and the major reforms I believe are necessary.”

In addition to updating the public on current issues before the PSC, Commissioner Presley plans to discuss his “Ratepayers’ Bill of Rights”; updates on ‘Zap the Gap’; PSC satellite offices; and financial assistance programs available to low-income ratepayers.  He will also discuss updates on the No Call Law and other consumer related topics that affect Mississippians and our economic climate.

Since taking office in January of 2008, Presley has been a strong advocate for reform of the PSC and consumer protection issues.
