Weekend Packed with Health Fair, Cotton Gin Festival, Comic Festival and Winston Chiefs

There's a BIG Weekend coming up in Winston County with lots of activities of all kinds. Residents and out of town visitors should have a full day of events on Saturday. Winston Medical Center is holding a health fair on Saturday, September 29 from 9:00 am til 1:00 pm. There will be a number of free services available and also this season's flu shots will be available for $15 with Medicare billing if needed. The University Medical Center will have a helicopter on site available for viewing and a kid's carnival will be going on as well. Wrist bands are available.

Louisville's very own Backwood's Comics Festival will also be on Saturday at the Louisville Coliseum on Ivy Ave from 10am till 6pm. There will be web cartoonists from around the state and Florida and Arkansas; also Pop Culture Artists and Cartoonists, writers and novelists, Steampunk groups, Paranormal groups, Anime groups, and a Star Wars fan group called the Mandolorians. On Friday night at 8:30 before the festival,there will be a pop culture discussion panel in the Strand Theater. There will be cartoonists and writers on stage to answer questions and discuss their crafts. The event at the Strand Theater is only two dollars and proceeds go to Theater.

The Noxapater Community Alliance will host the  annual Cotton Gin Festival on Saturday as well. This year's festival promises to be bigger and better than ever. Activities for the event include the annual car show and live entertainment. For more information about this event call 662-773-8289.

The Winston County Chiefs will be hosting the Choctaw Steelers on Saturday at Louisville High football stadium. Chicken dinner plates will be on sale prior and during the football game from 10:00 am til 2:00 pm.
