LPD Reorganizes and Promotes Officers

Asst. Chief Andy Taylor accepts congrats
from LPD Chief Claiborne
As a result of ongoing policy and organization changes, Louisville police officers now have the opportunity to advance their rank and careers.  Chief L.M. Claiborne congratulated several officers on Friday morning (Oct. 5) as they achieved or tested for their new rank within the department.
Claiborne indicated that to improve the "span of control" within the department as recommended by such guides as the "National Incident Management Plan", a reorganization of rank within LPD was needed. The Chief indicated that the changes would make the department more manageable which would allow more time  to improve efficiency and for grant research to improve funding.
The Chief congratulated Andy Taylor for his promotion to Assistant Chief and five officers as they prepared for testing for the rank of Corporal: Keith Alexander, Karl Black, Mark Gregory, Tonya McWhirter and Scott Smith.
