Annual Veteran's Day and Stew Stomp

The weather was agreeable for Louisville's Veteran's Day Parade and program on Saturday morning (Nov 3) as area veterans gathered and were honored. Area fire departments and Boy Scout troops marched in a parade down Main Street .  A short program followed  as Rev. Larry Haggard gave the invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Will Hill welcomed the veterans and guest. Tracy McCully sang the National Anthem for the gathering and the crowd was entertained by the youngsters of Louisville Elementary's Melody Makers prior to the guest speaker, retired Brigadier General Gary Huffman.

The 9th annual Stew Stomp was also held on Main Street. In addition to all the cooking & tasting, there was a new addition to this year's festivities. A sweet tea tasting contest was added, sponsored by Pearl River Resort.

The Stew Stomp teams started early and tasting began at 12:00 noon. Five teams served up their best stews, soups and/or tea for cash prizes and awards. Winners were selected by judges and also by the public as they chose their favorite.  Judging ended at 2:30 pm and the winners were announced at 3 pm.
