Master Gardener Sandra Miles carrying mulch at Dean Park |
The Winston County Master Gardeners Association (WCMGA) spent Thursday, November 15, 2012, beautifying two of Winston County's great parks. They worked at Dean Park, Hwy 15 South, Louisville, MS, in the morning by removing dead plant material, placing new mulch around playground, pruning, transplanting and raking pine needles. The afternoon was spent at Ivy Park, 201 Ivy Avenue, Louisville, MS, where they removed weeds, pruned and placed new mulch around the plants at the landscaped area at the baseball field gate. These gardeners graduated from a Master Gardeners Class with professors from Mississippi State University. They are required to complete 20 training hours and 40 community services hours per year. This project was for community service. Mike Skipper, county agent supervised the gardeners and provided the tools, mulch and lunch.
