Local P.O. gathers more than 2500 lbs of food

The annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive by the U.S. Postal Service was held today- Saturday, May 8th. Residents were asked to help feed the hungry by leaving food by their mailbox. Letter carriers collected the food and all donations will be distributed locally. A total of 2,562.80 lbs were collected by Louisville carriers. The Noxapater Post Office also participated in the drive. Now in its 18th year, the Stamp Out Hunger! effort is the nation’s largest single-day food drive. In 2010, drive organizers hope to exceed last year’s record-setting total of 73.4 million pounds of donated food, as well as surpass one billion pounds of food collected over the history of the drive.
