More than 100 people gathered today in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church to participate in the National Day of Prayer. Clergy from several denominations spoke and prayed with the crowd. Speakers included Senator Giles Ward, Representative Russ Nowell and Mayor Will Hill.
A recent court ruling that a governmental established National Day of Prayer was unconstitutional had little or no effect on the people gathered and may have even increased the number of individuals participating this year. The following video records much of the event:
