Area Senior Honor Students Recognized

The organizers of the first annual “Salute to Success” found that the 3rd time was a charm. After weather forced the event to be rescheduled on two previous occasions, the program to recognize Winston County Senior Honor Students had plenty of sunshine Wednesday. Seniors were recognized and rewarded for their scholastic efforts.
Area leaders and representatives from each school provided words of encouragement to 72 students from Louisville, Nanih Waiya, Noxapater, Winston Academy & Grace Christian. Speedy Calvert served as master of ceremony for the event. Students were commended by Mayor Will Hill, Robert Wall, Jerry Estes and Senator Giles Ward. The Valedictorians and Salutatorians of each school were individually recognized as well:
Louisville Valedictorian: Ryan Shotts - Salutatorian: Taylor Crocker
Grace Christian Valedictorian: Elizabeth Triplett -Salutatorian: Faith Spann
Nanih Waiya Valedictorian: Jeffrey Hemphill - Salutatorian: Ray Sizemore
Noxapater Valedictorian: Brock McDaniel - Salutatorian: Taylor Smith
Winston Academy Valedictorian: Jonathan Hamilton - Salutatorian: Avery Webb

The students were provided hamburgers and fixings prepared by the Louisville Fire Department and a drawing was held for $200 in Louisville Dollars. Student winners included:India Ball, Amber Coleman, Taylor Crocker, Ryan Vowell and Megan Polatsidis. $100 winners included: Wendy Rogers, Jatory Coburn and Nataki Waldrop. Supervisor Jerry Estes and Chancery Clerk Pam Reel donated $100 each for the drawing as well. Local businesses contributed to the event and include: Bullock Toyota, The Citizens Bank in Louisville, Fair Propane, Fashion Boutique, Framin'Shoppe/Uptown Lily, The Jewel Shoppe, Just Teasin' Boutik,Market Cafe, Raspberry Beret, Silver Goose?Moody Furniture, Stephanie's Shenanigans, U-Save Auto Rental/Buyfrommax.com, Getcha Head in the Game, Winston County Partnership, Chamber of Commerce/Main Street.
