Scouts Attend Board of Aldermen Meeting on Tuesday

Scouts- Fulton, Cole, Hudson & Parsons attend Aldermen Meeting
The Louisville Board of Aldermen dealt with a short agenda at Tuesday night's regularly scheduled meeting. The meeting began as the Board recognized several  Boy Scouts from Troop 5 as they attended the meeting to meet the requirements for merit badges in Citizenship and Communications. Scouts recognized were: Ty Fulton, Samuel Cole, Max Hudson and Ethan Persons.
The Board also approved the following items:
A small correction in Airport funds drawdown from an FAA grant.
Acknowledged a Certificate of Attendance for Sue Daniels at the Ms Municipal Court Clerks Association and approved a training seminar for Daniels.
Approved training for Mark Gregory & Perry Yates at the Regional Counterdrug Training Academy.
Made Notice of Appointment to the Historic Preservation Board: Marveen Moody & Victoria Goss's three year terms end in August.
Approved the interlocal agreement with the county concerning maintenance and testing of area warning sirens.
Set a hearing date for an unclean property at 801 Winston Street for August16th.
Approved a contract change order for work done for the Landfill Cell Project.
Discussed the possible purchase of mowing equipment with the Utilities Board.
Fire Chief Terry Johnson informed the Board of a Red Cross Disaster Tech Training session to be held on July 26th at the Fire Station and of the Fire Academy for Kids scheduled from July 27-29. The Fire Academy is for middle school youth and up to learn fire safety skills. Contact the Fire Department for more information.
Reviewed City sales tax receipts.
Set a budget hearing for August 16th.
Alderman Eugene Crosby questioned Fire Chief Johnson about the impementation of the local fire code and building capacity. Johnson informed the Board that several factors were involved including use, design, layout and total square footage of the property. He indicated that the fire department rated the property and provided the certification and that it was the responsibility of the property owner to post the notice.
Endorsed a Mayor's Youth Council and training provided by the Ms School of Protocol and Etiquette. The program would be implemented in conjunction with the local schools and funded by a four year grant at no cost to the city.
The Board also recognized Jody Fulton for his certification as "Residential Building Inspector by the International Code Council (ICC).
