As of 2:00 pm on Wednesday (Aug 3) the status of several affidavit ballots had yet to be determined from Tuesday's primary election. Given current vote counts, these additional ballots would be unlikely to affect any race outcomes with the exception of the District 4 Supervisor's Race. Only 10 votes separate Don Sisson, the 2nd place finisher and Willie Goss. Sisson is currently listed with 287 votes to Goss's 277. The 2nd place finisher will face incumbent Gloria Turnipseed in the August 23rd runoff. Other county runoffs include: Chancery Clerk- Cunningham vs Reel...Tax Assessor- Jackson vs Woodward... Sheriff - Pugh vs Coburn...Dist 1 Sup- Warner vs Mitchell... Dist3 Sup- Peterson vs Jernigan...Constable West - Black vs Hunt.
Voters should remember that they must vote in the same party's runoff election as they did in the primary. Citizens may still register to vote in the November general election but cannot participate in the runoff elections if they were not previously registered.
