Highlights From Monday's Board of Supervisor's Meeting

The Winston Co. Board of Supervisors met today in a regularly scheduled meeting. The following are the highlights of that meeting:
Met with representatives of the "U.S. Financial Diaries Project - these reps informed the Board of the intent and purpose of the project and requested input as to potential locations in various parts of the county to meet with citizens. (WWN will have more info on the Financial Diaries Project later this week.)
Acknowledged receipt of several reports and statements including: Circuit Clerk's Aging report, annual report of money in criminal & civil holding, Financial statements from Watkins, Ward & Stafford, approval of ad valorem tax exemption for Polo by the state tax commission, the approved re-cap of the real & personal tax roll and acknowledged the completion of all documentation to submit the 2011 land roll to the Department of Revenue.
Approved requests by the Circuit Clerk's Office for overtime pay and an additional temporary employee to assist with election matters.
Corrected an erroneous land sale.
Approved a school bus turnaround at 200 Plattsburg Road.
Approved invoices from the Sheriff's Dept or the correctional facility, extended the existing phone service contract for an additional month to allow further review of proposed contracts. Acting Sheriff Edwards also informed the Board that the correctional facility had stopped accepting inmates from North Atlantic Extradition Services of Columbus as the facility had not received payment from the company in the last 2 months.
Tabled a decision on replacement road sign colors until the next meeting to get information on prices.
Approved a hold car tag list with some deletions as the list contains some names of deceased individuals.
Approved a motion to sell a 5610 J. D tractor from District 3.
The Board also opened bids for a new control door system at the Winston - Choctaw Correctional Facility. The bids ranged from a high of $217,500 from Cornerstone Detention Products to a low of $126,134 from Southwest Communications. There were 4 bids and the Board took them under advisement for further review.
