Veteran's Parade & Program on Saturday

The weather was agreeable for Louisville's Veteran's Day Parade and program on Saturday morning (Nov 12) as area veterans gathered and were honored. Area fire departments, Girl and Boy Scout troops and the Louisville High School Band marched in a parade down Main Street. A short program followed on South Columbus Avenue as Senator Giles Ward opened the ceremonies and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Will Hill welcomed the veterans and guest. Billie Bowie sang the National Anthem for the gathering and the crowd was entertained by the youngsters of Louisville Elementary's Melody Makers. Representative Russ Nowell introduced the day's guest speaker, a fellow State Representative.
Representative Mack Huddleston from District 15 and a Vietnam veteran spoke to the crowd as he affirmed that while we all would choose not to fight, sometimes it is necessary. Recognizing the fact that not all can serve, Huddleston stressed the importance of the fact that we honor and remember those who do.
WWN took numerous photos of the event in addition to those presented here and a link to a slideshow of the parade and the following program can be seen by clicking here.
