Local Senator Ward Speaks at Fair This Morning

photo from @MSGOP
Local State Senator Giles Ward spoke this morning at the Neshoba County Fair. Ward is one of a number of speakers at the pavillion today. A crowd of around one hundred gathered as he spoke of redistricting matters and the State's fiscal responsibilities. Ward indicated that state revenues are up but recovery won't occur overnight. He indicated that he believed the majority of the state legislature was fiscally responsible but that nothing in life is free and that includes government services; every item is being paid for by taxes.

Ward saved his strongest comments for Medicaid expansion and the Affordable Health Care Act. Ward says the Supreme Court's ruling on Obamacare was disappointing but it is a tax that someone has to pay. He indicated that a more appropriate name for the legislation should have been the "Unaffordable Care Act."  Ward believes Mississippi can't afford Obamacare and Medicaid expansion;  "the amount of Medicaid added possible under Obama care equals two Jacksons, a Tupelo plus Philadelphia."

Unsustainable... The numbers of people that the fed wants to put into the program would sink us all.
