E-Books Now Available Through Winston County Library

The Winston County Library, which is part of the Mid-Mississippi Regional Library System, today(Oct 19) announced the availability of Baker & Taylor’s Axis 360 e-Book library for its patrons.

Axis 360 is a new digital media platform, providing libraries and their patrons with a state-of-the-art system for circulating enhanced digital content and Blio, the ground-breaking e-Reading software.

“We are very excited to be able to expand our library services to include free e-Books for our library patrons,” said Richard Greene, director of the Mid-Mississippi Regional Library System. “With this new platform we are able to offer easy check out and download for reading on multiple e-Reading devices from any location.”

Library patrons can now go to the Mid-Mississippi Regional Library System website, which is http://www.MMRLS.lib.ms.us, and click on e-Book Bestsellers button to check out e-Books from the system. Instructions for downloading Blio or Adobe Digital Editions on various readers are available on the website and at the library. Library staff members will also be on hand to assist first-time users. Once the patron has downloaded the reading software, they will be able to check out books with their library card and read their books on Kindle Fire readers, Nooks, iPads and iPhones, PCs, laptops and a variety of other e-Book readers.

Library patrons will enjoy the dynamic presentation of titles on the Axis 360 Magic Wall, the ease of locating books of interest via ‘Browse By Subject’ pages, as well as guidance provided via book reviews and recommendations for further reading.

The free e-Book service is being funded this year by a Library Services and Technology Act Grant through the Mississippi Library Commission.
