The Louisville Fire Department responded to a house fire on N. Columbus this morning. The call to 911 was at 6:56 am. The home in the 700 block of North Columbus was engulfed in flames and the occupants were inside at the time of the fire. Four individuals were transported to Winston Medical Center for burns and/or smoke inhalation. Two of the injured were children. Reports indicated at least some of the victims were transported to Jackson for further medical treatment.
Louisville Fire Chief Terry Johnson also indicated that one firefighter was injured in the blaze. His condition is not known at this time. The Beth Eden and High Point Fire Departments responded to the incident as well. The home is a total loss and the cause of the blaze is under investigation at this time. We will have more details as they become available.
