Dr. Richard Blackbourn thanked the crowd and acknowledged the attendance of local government and business leaders; "This is a county that cares about education. Our students are getting real world experience and we hope to grow this partnership."
LMSD Superintendent Wade said, "We are proud of what this does for our students. This is a win for the children of the district.
In addition to teacher instruction, the College Knowledge Project through the University provides staff to work with the local CAPPS program (Changing Academic Progress and Promoting Success) at area schools. Currently, there are approximately 200 students involved in the local program.
