The Winston County Board of Supervisors met on Monday (12-17) in their last meeting of the year. Typical business items were the bulk of the agenda. The following are the highlights:
- Renewed a county policy with Renasant Insurance. Premiums for the upcoming year will be slightly lower- from roughly $146,000 per year to $138,435.
- Approved the purchase of a Volvo excavator for District Five. Bids were opened in the previous meeting. Cost was $75,600 and a lease/purchase financed through Hancock Bank.
- Approved the hire of three new employees at the Winston County Correctional Facility.
- Approved a 16th section lease agreement.
- Authorized payment of $8800 to Calvert-Spradling Engineers for work on the Teeters facility – county to pay $7120 and remainder from grant funds.
- Acknowledged the notice of award of a contract between Pughs Mill Water Association and 4D Construction in the amount of $83,395.50 for work including relocation of water lines.
- Opened bids on County Depository for the next two years. Three of the four local banks submitted bids and after review of terms, the Board accepted the bid from Citizens State Bank.
