Recyclers in the area have found that the BluBox container at the Louisville Coliseum is no where to be found. In the last few months, area residents have been participating in a recycling program. Recyclables have been taken to the container and when full, the company would pick up and replace with an empty container. The response has been strong from the public and the program has continued to grow. However this past week, folks were dismayed to pull into the Coliseum parking area and find that the BluBox had not been replaced.
Contact with the Office of Mayor Will Hill provides some answers: "Blubox was sold to a new Parent Company and the new company imposed new/higher rates for service. Rather than delivering an empty when the last pickup was made, the company chose to not leave one contingent on the City and County signing a new contract. The increase is such that the City and County each would have to decide and agree to renew and time has not allowed for this to happen as of yet. Hope the new company will resolve this problem for us with Customer Service in mind rather than contracts."
Mayor Hill has requested/demanded that the box be replaced as soon as possible considering the current contract situation. There was some indication from the company that the box would be replaced by Saturday or Monday. (Dec 11 or 13)
