House on Bond Rd Destroyed by Fire - Monday Morning

The Louisville Fire Dept and the East Winston Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to a house fire before 5:00 am on Monday morning. The property at 382 Bond Road was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Fortunately the house was vacant at the time of the fire as it was awaiting renovation. Several oxygen cylinders located inside the home released and produced limited explosions that were heard throughout much of the general area. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Louisville Fire Dept. asks that everyone be safe as the Christmas Season approaches and the use of lights and heaters becomes more common.

Check your heating unit filters and make sure necessary vents are used when needing that extra heat.

Be aware of the potential for fire as you set up your tree and decorate for the holidays. Make sure your wood stoves and fireplaces are in good working order and have been cleaned and the dampers are working.

Extension cords should be larger than the appliance or decorations you are connecting to as this helps prevent overheating of the extension cord and possible fires.
