The Louisville Board of Aldermen had a short agenda in their meeting on Tuesday evening. In addition to normal city business, the Board dealt with several issues including the joint appointment to the Airport Board, code enforcement on new liquor retailers, and the City's representative with the Winston County Economic Development Partnership's upcoming trip to Washington.
Airport Board member Mark Donald's term on the Board expired on 2-1-2012. This appointment is a joint appointment of the City & County. Prior to Tuesday meeting, Aldermen received notification of the County's choice, Mike Forster, to fill the position. Donald appeared before the Aldermen indicating his desire to remain on the Airport Board. After discussion, Aldermen moved to table the decision until Donald had the opportunity to discuss the issue with County Supervisors. City Attorney Taylor Tucker indicated that he believed that until a new board member could be agreed upon, Donald could continue to serve in that position.
Code Enforcement Officer Jodie Fulton informed the Board that his department would begin reviewing code issues with the new liquor retailers in town. Fulton indicated that there may be signage issues in violation of the city's liquor ordinance. The ordinance requires that no advertising be visible from the outside of the premises.
Mayor Will Hill informed the Board that he may not be available to participate in the Washington, D.C. trip with the Winston County Economic Development Partnership due to family issues. If unavailable, Hill recommended the Board's Attorney, Taylor Tucker to attend in his place.
Parks & Rec Director Todd McCullough informed the Board of the increased activity at the Louisville Coliseum and area parks and ball fields. He also informed the Board that trailer hookups at the facilities had increased in number from 8 to 30 and were being heavily utilized.
For the Board's full agenda, contact the City Clerk's Office. Approved minutes are not available until Board approval after the next meeting.
W. McCully
