The lighting project along the hwy bypass(Hwy 15 & Hwy 14 intersection) near the WalMart location is progressing as poles are starting to be put in place. The lights will extend from the intersection north to near the Crowson Automotive location and south to the Hwy 15 & Hwy 25 split.
Mayor Will Hill indicated that this has been a long overdue project providing not only an aesthetic improvement but more importantly should improve visibility for safety concerns. This is not a MDOT project but has been spearheaded by the cooperation of the City of Louisville and Louisville Utilities. No grant money has been used in the project. While a traffic light will not be installed by MDOT at the intersection of 15 &14, caution lights will be placed at that location.
The city is also attempting to work with MDOT on a turn signal light at the intersection of Church St and Main. (North & South). Issues with street parking and MDOT regulations have complicated this process.
