The Louisville Board of Aldermen had a short agenda on Tuesday with re-districting plans on the top of the agenda. Representatives from Golden Triangle Planning and Development presented two plans for city re-districting. Re-districting is required due to population shifts and changes indicated by the 2010 census. Both plans require line shifts away from Districts One and Four to meet variance standards. Alderman Crosby requested additional census tract data and the Board took the plans under advisement. Re-districting is required prior to next year's city elections and the plan must be approved by the Justice Department under the Voting Rights Act. Once accepted by the Board, the plan must be subjected to a public hearing.
The Board also dealt with several unclean property issues and voted to place a lien on 201 Johnson Street for the cost of cleanup. Cost to the City was approximately $1700.
The Board approved a general obligation bond issue and the docket of claims for the City. They also approved costs for City Clerk Training and attendance at the Spring Conference for County employee Kenny Morris.
County Attorney Taylor Tucker briefed the Board on the recent Washington trip by Economic Development members and their contact with area political leaders and funding sources.
Mayor Hill informed the Board of an employee opening in accounts payable. The Board provided search authorization and review of existing applications for the position. The City will take applications and review those already on hand.
The Board also accepted the resignation of Troy Ward from the Airport Board . Ward was the City's specific appointment to that board.
The next meeting is scheduled for April 17th. The full minutes of this meeting is available after approval in the City Clerk's Office.
