Friends of Dean Park, Inc. kicked off its 2012 Special Project Campaign Drive. In 2010 and 2011, the FODP raised funds to assure that the children in the county have a safe, modern and beautiful playground at Dean Park. Now that the playground is installed and the children are happy, the seniors that visit the park are in need of bathroom facilities that are convenient for them to get to from the park's pavilion. The FODP looked into the possibility of making that their campaign for this year. The county supervisors and the Dean Park Commission have approved of this project but we are informed that the budget cannot afford this expense.
We, therefore, are asking the residents and businesses of Winston County to chip in and help us with this project. According to FODP member, " The use of the Dean Park has improved tremendously since renovations have taken place." TRIAD, an organization started through the sheriff's office, held their annual meeting/cook-out at Dean Park on Friday, May 4, 2012. Over 60 seniors and disabled residents attended and enjoyed themselves except for the trips to the bathroom which is down hill. Many of them could not get back uphill comfortably. Some of them left to go home early because of the inconvenience.
FODP kicked off its first fundraiser at Walmart on Saturday, May 5, 2012. If you would like to donate to this campaign, please send your tax deductible donation to:
