Kids N Kats Fishing Rodeo Draws Large Crowd of Youngsters

Saturday morning brought beautiful weather as young folks participated in the annual Kids N Kats Fishing Rodeo at Legion State Park. More than 125 kids under the age of fourteen registered for the event with prizes and lunch included. Local Boy Scout Troop 5 led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance, Tracy McCully sang the National Anthem and State Senator Giles Ward acted as emcee for the event. Ward reminded the crowd of the benefits that Legion brings to the area and encouraged citizens to make use of the facility. Ward also expressed concern that state budget issues represent a threat to State Parks such as Legion.
Fisherman headed to the lake to catch a five fish limit. The lake had been stocked with catfish for the purpose of the rodeo.  The catfish weren't biting early except in one location where kids were having a great time reeling them in.
