Relay for Life 2012

The Winston County Relay for Life was held on Friday night at the Louisville High School Stadium. Fourteen teams participated in the event. Relay starts with a Survivors Lap – an inspirational time when survivors are invited to circle the track together and help everyone celebrate the victories achieved over cancer. Later in the evening, people who have been touched by cancer and loved ones lost to the disease are remembered during the Luminaria Ceremony.  Candles are lit inside bags filled with sand, each one bearing the name of a person touched by cancer.
Each year, teams are recognized for their participation in the event. East Louisville Baptist Church won the best campsite and best participation, East Winston Fire won the spirit of relay, The Way Church won best food and hospitality. Noxapater School won the best school spirit and best fundraiser!
