Three County Schools in Action This Week...

The first two weeks of action have brought mixed results for local high school football teams. Winston Academy has opened up the year with impressive wins as they take a 2-0 record into this week's game with Lamar Academy in Meridian. The Pats soundly defeated Oak Hill by a score of 41-6 in last week's game.
The Louisville Wildcats rebounded from an opening game loss to New Hope as they traveled across the state line to take on Demopolis, Ala. The Cats took a 24-3 lead into the 4th quarter but had to hold on as Demopolis rallied to a 24-17 score. With a little over a minute remaining and Demopolis on the Cats' 13 yard line, a hard stand by the Louisville defense forced the ball over on downs to preserve the victory. Louisville heads down to Neshoba Central for Friday night's game.
Noxapater dropped their second game of the season in a contest that was much closer than the 41-21 score indicated. Eupora came to town and pulled away in the second half. With the score tied 21-21 at halftime, Eupora's offense continued to drive and score while Noxapater would not reach the end zone again. This week, Noxapater heads down to Kemper County who defeated Nanih Waiya in a 36-35 barn burner last week. The loss to Kemper dropped the Warriors to an 0-2 record. Nanih Waiya has an open datethis week.
