Louisville Holds On to Defeat Noxubee

Louisville ruled the first half of the game and was able to hang on in the second half as they defeated Noxubee County 14-12 in a Thursday night game played on Fox Sports South. The game seen across much of the country pitted Louisville's M. C. Miller against his old team and fellow coaches at Noxubee County. The victory helped Louisville (9-1, 4-0) break a four-game losing streak against the Tigers and take the inside track for first place in Class 4A, Region 4 with only Leake Central remaining on the schedule.
Louisville jumped out to a 14-0 lead before surrendering six points to Noxubee just before halftime. Noxubee controlled the play during the second half as they out-gained the Wildcats 344 yards to 188 but a stubborn Wildcat defense frustrated Noxubee over and over again as the Tigers moved into the red zone but simply couldn't find the end zone most of the night. With a 14-12 score, Noxubee had a final chance after forcing a three and out and recieving the ball on Louisville's 45 yard line with two minutes remaining in the game. Noxubee quarterback Ballard bobbled the shotgun snap and the Wildcats recovered on the Tigers 29 yard line and were able to run out the clock.
Missed PAT's were the difference in the game as Louisville's Dalton Hudspeth hit both of the Cats extra points while Noxubee was not able to convert either a one point or a two point conversion.
With a win at Leake Central next week, Louisville will have sole ownership of Region 4's 4A title.
