Polo Announces Louisville Expansion

Local politicians and economic leaders of Winston County gathered today (Wednesday - Oct 26) at the Polo Custom Products facility as Polo announced its expansion into a new product line in Louisville. Company president & CEO Karla Clem of the Topeka, Ks. based company indicated that the recent purchase of a Santa Barbara based competitor has led the company into compression molding and foam products using a technique called "thermo- forming." Polo has consolidated that operation line to the Louisville plant resulting in expanded product lines, sewing lines and additional employment in the area.

Economic Development Director Gerald Mills equated Polo to the "EverReady Bunny" as a local company that seems to keep going and going and Grady Suttle of the Winston County Partnership Board thanked Polo and commended the company as a good neighbor in Winston County.
Funding for some of the expansion was acquired through the assistance of the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA). While expansion remained within the existing walls of the facility, major roof repairs and retraining in laminating and forming were required. The expansion resulted in 25 new jobs in Louisville with expectations of at least 10 more in the future.
Louisville's Polo operation is one of less than half a dozen in the United States using the thermo-form techniques. Polo makes a wide variety of products for retailers such as Harley Davidson to the U.S. military. The Louisville facility also serves as a quality control center for company made products shipped to the U.S. from China.
