Alderman Set Liquor Ordinance

The Louisville Board of Aldermen met on Tuesday evening (Dec 6) with a full agenda. In addition to normal business matters, Aldermen held public hearings on several unclean properties, accepted the resignation of Jason Pugh from the Police Force (recently elected Winston Co. Sheriff) and approved the hiring of an E911 Dispatcher and a Patrol Officer.
Most of the emphasis of the meeting was focused on approval of a liquor ordinance for the city. After much debate, the Board approved an ordinance requiring restaurants to derive 75% of their income from food sales, limited outside advertising and set the distance of future liquor sales at 400' from certain properties including churches and schools. The full ordinance can be seen here.

In other action, after an executive session, the Board authorized the Mayor to sign an agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding with Jake Rich, the owner of Jake's Salvage. This will allow all parties to proceed with a land swap that will be of mutual benefit to Mr. Rich's business and to the City as well for future growth and development.

The full agenda of the meeting is available at Louisville City Hall. Approved minutes of any meeting are not available until after approval at the next Board meeting.
