Andy Holliday with his winning 1935 Ford Coupe |
(press release) The 2012 Red Hills Car Show filled the parking lot of First Baptist Church with a lot of hot air and Hot cars. Eighty-three entries were viewed by hundreds of people enjoying the Festival and remembering their youth with tales about their cars. RHCS appreciates the hard, hot work of our judges.
The Best of Show award went to Andy Holliday of Carrolton, MS with his 1935 Blue Ford Coupe. A few special moments of the 2012 RHCS was the presentation of two memorial awards. One is the Jerry (Red) Taylor Memorial award. Red Taylor who passed away February 27, 2012 has had entries in many shows around the area for several years. Monica Taylor, on behalf of her and her daughters, presented the Red Taylor award to Charlie Powell of Columbus for his 1955 Red Ford Pickup. The award was handmade by James Kinard who was Red Taylor’s car builder. Jerry Hendrix was the founder of the Red Hills Car show and his love for cars has passed on to his son, Scott Hendrix. Scott, on behalf of the Hendrix Family, presented the Jerry Hendrix Memorial award to Dennis Taylor of Louisville for his 1957 Chevrolet Cameo pickup that once belonged to his Grandfather.
